10 July 2011 Ride: Hwy 71

Last night, I already decided that I would drive to Drake Field, park and do the daily ride south down Hwy 71 and back.  Usually, on Sunday, I would take advantage of the low traffic on Hwy 45 and head east.  But I was looking for a change of pace.  The idea of a flat ride was appealing and the wind would be at my back on the return.

Warm and very humid this morning.  78 degrees when I pushed off at 6:20.  I was glad to see a bit of a cloud cover as the high was supposed to be 100 today and I was eager to have a day without the sun rays beating down on me.  My spirits and energy level were much better than yesterday.

I think I found where the golden egg-laying goose lives.  Though, with the cost of gold, the eggs would have to be a 10kt plating or perhaps only silver or bronze eggs.  I just realized that the sign doesn't specify how many eggs one gets for that price.

About 14 miles down Hwy 71, I turned onto Hwy 74 for a few miles.  At the top of a hill, my turn-around point, I came across the barn above.  I liked the "lazy eye" left window.

This car for sale was just south of Greenland.  What I really liked was the selling point that it is a 2 door hard top.

Window just south of the airport.

A very good ride, especially having the tailwind as hoped.

Today's Ride:  2hrs 41mins.   35.21 miles.  78-85 degrees.  Miles YTD:  4,385.23
